The Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw is world-famous for it’s Natural room acoustics and therefore a critical environment for amplified sound.
Recently PME-Tecnica engineering, Jan Panis and Koen Keevel, have selected a Meyer Sound Mina Line Array as the new sound system for the main hall.
Usually Meyer Sound Systems ships with a Galileo DSP, but for this venue more IO flexibility was needed.
Preferably A DSP with similar audio quality with more Analog and Digital IO.. (DANTE & AES/EBU).
For that reason a XILICA’s A1616-ND Neutrino Processor was chosen.
The different sections of the Mina arrays (3×2 groups), backfill, sidefill, frontfill and subs all get their individual audio feeds from Neutrino with with matching EQ, phase correction and delay..
And with the installed XILICA Touch 7SM tablet some complex user presets can be made, so al kind of in/out variations can be chosen with one touch on the screen.
A Meyer SIMM session was preformed with Galileo in order to obtain the EQ, (all-pass) filters, Array compensation-filters en delays.
After all the parameters were copied in to the Neutrino via the NeuConsole software the Neutrino processor was connected and only some little adjustments were needed to get the desired result.
The engineers did some critical listening tests and everybody was pleasantly surprised by the detailed audio quality even at 48Khz sampling rate..
According to Jan and Koen, Xilica Neutrino is a very flexible, very audible and affordable DSP solution that they can happily recommend as audio centerpiece in any system.
